January
and February: Following a traditionally snowy Holiday
Season, temps are typically in the teens and 20's with
overnights dipping down into the frostbite zone.
March: Roaring in like the
proverbial lion, March boasts high 20's with temperatures rising
into the 30's during daylight hours. The skiing is still
good!
April: In many areas, snow still blankets the hills
and valleys, even as temperatures move up into the 40's. Later
in the month, they climb up into the high 60's. The ski resorts
keep making snow as long as possible.
May: Spring
finally arrives, and everything's melting. This is considered a
"shoulder season" in the hospitality business and
rates will be at their lowest.
June: Temps
are now in the 70's and summer kicks off with its usual mix of
flowers, festivals and fun!
July and August: Although
still mostly in the 70's, July and August may have an occasional
reading in the 80's. In the Southern part of the state, 90's are
not uncommon. Summer days are extremely comfortable and often
breezy, perfect for any outdoor activity.
September:
With
the onset of autumn and "back to school," temps start
swinging back into the 60's.
October: By the time leaf-peeping season struts out
its stuff, temps are falling down into the 40's. This is when
Vermonters start reaching for their winter clothes.
November: Shoppers from miles around flock to Vermont
for unique, memorable Holiday gifts. At this time of year, with
temps in the 30's, warm woolen mittens are sure to be on the
list!
December: Hats, insulated boots, heavy socks...if it
looks like "too much" and you think you'd never wear
it "down below," it's probably just
the thing you need to comfortably weather winter way up here!
