Stowe
Enjoy shopping, the Alpine Slide, a drive up Toll Road or a gondola ride to top of Mt. Mansfield.

Waterbury
Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory Located on Route 100, this cultural icon offers tours and samples and is guaranteed to be mobbed! Across from Ben & Jerry’s is the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, home of fabulous cider, donuts, cheese and gifts.

Shelburne
Shelburne Museum Easily located along busy Route 7, the museum hosts a famous collection of American folk art, artifacts and buildings. Daily from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., until late October.

Shelburne Farms on Harbor Road. Take a guided tour through this 1400-acre estate and collection of historic buildings, Olmstead-designed grounds, a working barn and visitor center. Times vary – call (802) 985-8686.


    



     
    



Whether you enjoy taking in beautiful views or wandering through small museums, puttering about craft shops or loading up on goodies at the general store, Vermont has something for everyone. The Miller's Thumb 
This former grist mill hosts an idiosyncratic collection of local crafts, Italian and Portuguese pottery and English sweaters. Peek through a window in the floor to see the waterfall below! 533-2960

Barr Hill Nature Preserve  
Owned by the Nature Conservancy, Barr Hill is 256 acres of pristine natural beauty, with walking trails and lovely views. Ask at office for directions.

Glover

Bread & Puppet Theater Museum  
You'll clap your hands with glee when they unveil the huge puppets and clever stage sets! A unique and fun outing! Route 122 off Route 16. 525-3031

Westmore/Lake Willoughby

Follow Route 5A for breathtaking drive. Mt. Pisgah and Mt. Hor flank the southern end of the lake and offer enjoyable, very "do-able" hiking trails.

Derby Line

Haskell Library and Opera House  
Built at the turn of the century, this library once had the distinction of being the only library in the U.S. with no books. Located so that both Americans and Canadians would have free access to the library, the building was placed directly on the border between America and our northern neighbors. The restored Opera House is a reproduction of the now destroyed Boston Opera House. Open 10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Tuesday - Saturday.

St. Johnsbury
Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium 
This old-fashioned natural history museum, housed in an incredible building, is chock full of many locally-donated exhibits. The planetarium is a U.S. weather station and on Vermont Public Radio, it’s the "Eye in the Sky." Open daily.

Athenaeum  
This small museum and gallery is home to an outstanding Hudson River painting – The Mounds by Bierstadt. Open 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Closed Sunday.

Redberry 
A delightful specialty food store offering Vermont products as well as an exceptional line of their own, Redberry is located on Railroad Street. 

The Original Maple Museum and Factory 
Guided tours of this, the world's oldest Maple Candy Factory, are available on weekdays.  

Brownington

Old Stone House Museum  
Historical Society Museum offers fascinating exhibits set in a lovely hill town. Open 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Friday – Tuesday.

East Montpelier

Bragg Farm Sugarhouse & Gift Shop 
Enjoy a free guided tour, maple syrup tasting and a walk through the maple woods. Open all year!

Barre
Rock of Ages Granite Quarry  
This is the world’s largest granite quarry. Self-guided or narrated shuttle tours. 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday - Saturday.

Cabot Creamery
